Grade 12 Applied Mathematics Project - Synopsis
APPLIED MATHEMATICS
CBSE Board Project Synopsis
AY 2022-23
Topic
Fibonacci sequence: Its history and presence in nature.
Introduction
The Fibonacci sequence first appeared in Indian mathematics, as early as 450 BC–200 BC. Fibonacci numbers appear unexpectedly often in mathematics, so much so that there is an entire journal dedicated to their study, the Fibonacci Quarterly.
Applications of Fibonacci numbers include computer algorithms such as the Fibonacci search technique and the Fibonacci heap data structure, and graphs called Fibonacci cubes used for interconnecting parallel and distributed systems.
It is seen often in nature as well, in the number of petals of flowers and the golden ratio to determine an ideal version of the human face.
Objective of the Project
The objective of the project is to introduce this fascinating number series, talk about its history and some applications, and finally look at its presence in nature.
